Here is the OM and the Shack Cat "Ellinor" in a photograph Jim Galloway, N5MDI, shot in early 1996. Quite a few things have changed since this picture was made. Not the least of which is the news that I am about 40 pounds lighter!
This is my primary operating station for single sideband. As you can see it is all Collins S-Line equipment! Far Left: Shure 55S on stand and Collins 30S-1 Linear. Lower Row of Desk: Collins 51S-1 Receiver, 32S-3 Transmitter, 312B-4 Station Control, 75S-3C Receiver. Middle Row: 312B-4, KWM-2, 312B-5, Heath Scope and antenna transfer switch, 30L-1. Top Row: MS-101, 55G-1, 75S-2, 32S-1, MS-102. Mikes are a Heil "Vintage" Gold Line (on boom), Turner 33D and Astatic 10DA. I built the desk in my woodshop.
My current arrangement for AM includes: a pair of 75A-4s and a 75A-1. 302C-3 wattmeter and MS-101 scope on top of 75A-3 and 32V-3 (personal of W0CXX given to me by Mrs. Collins). Shure 55S on KGNC mike stand. Reproduction 312A-2 on right bookcase. Current mike of choice is the Electrovoice "Mercury."
This is the center operating desk. At left is a rack with a Hammarlund SP-600-JX receiver which is subbing for my R-390 (which is with Rick Mish). Also in the rack is a CV-591A sideband converter and a homebrew speaker. On the top row of the shelves are: A Volksempfanger "Peoples Receiver" made in Nazi Germany, a Collins 12Z remote amplifier and a Collins 212H-1 remote. On the middle shelf are a Collins 310B-1 and a Collins 212U-3 Remote Amplifier. On the bottom are and RCA BN-2A remote amplifier and a Collins 310C-2. Mikes are a Turner U9S Microphone, RCA KB-2C Program Velocity Microphone and Shure 55 Unidyne Microphone. The phone is a "hot line" to Gen. Sarnoff-- hi hi!
